Qualification overview

This qualification is part of our Eden Custom Training First Aid group of courses. The training and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

  • The Resuscitation Council (UK)

The First Aid Awareness course is for:

  • People who deal with first aid at work under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

The training course will give learners the confidence to deal with a range of first aid situations.

Course content

What’s covered?

The 3-hour course covers:

  • Aims of first aid
  • Assessing an emergency situation safely
  • Assessing and managing a patient’s airway
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty (cardiopulmonary resuscitation [CPR], recovery position)
  • Managing a choking patient
  • Managing external bleeding
  • Secondary survey

Who’s it for?

This course is for all employees to increase their basic first aid awareness. It will help fulfil an employer’s legal duty to train their staff in first aid.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.

Requalification

This certificate is valid for 1 year. The learner must retake the training before the certificate expiry date to remain up to date with first aid knowledge.

The learner must attend all sessions before a certificate can be issued.
