Course overview

The Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF) is for people who want to:
- Raise their awareness of the signs and symptoms associated with mental health problems, both related to the workplace and in the general public.
- Direct anyone with potential mental health problems to a reliable source of support, both internally and externally.
The course will educate learners about common mental health illnesses such as depression, stress, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harming and suicide.
The qualification includes how to listen to others and give advice on signposting them to expert support to help them in difficult times.
Course content
What’s covered?
The 1-day course covers:
- Mental health and its importance
- Roles and legislation associated with mental health in the workplace
- A range of common mental health conditions (suicide, psychosis, anxiety, stress, eating disorders, self-harm)
- Mental health first aid at work action plan
- Promoting positive mental health first aid in the workplace
- Types of support available, both locally and nationally
Who’s it for?
This qualification is for people who are interested in mental health and want to increase their awareness. It's for those who want to be able to listen and signpost others to a professional body that can provide support.
Entry requirements
Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training, and they should have an interest in the area of mental health.
Requalification
The qualification is valid for 3 years. The learner must retake it before the certificate expiry date to stay qualified.
