Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF)

Qualification overview

This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

  • The Resuscitation Council (UK)
  • A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care

This qualification will enable Learners to attain the practical competencies needed to provide basic life support (BLS), safely use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and manage a casualty with anaphylaxis.

This course is:

  • For people who wish to attain the practical competencies needed to provide basic life support (BLS), safely use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and manage a casualty with anaphylaxis

The training course will give learners the confidence to deal with BLS interventions, safely use an AED and provide treatment for anaphylaxis in an emergency.

Course content

What’s covered?

During this 3-hour Course, you will cover:

  • Managing personal and scene safety
  • Conducting a primary survey on a casualty
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR))
  • How to safely use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally (Recovery position)
  • Recognising suspected anaphylaxis
  • Identify how to administer first aid for a casualty with suspected anaphylaxis

Who’s it for?

This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, who may need to provide BLS interventions, safely use an AED and manage a casualty suffering from anaphylaxis.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.

Requalification

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
