Moving/Manual and Handling Awareness Course
Course overview
This course is part of our Eden Custom Training Manual Handling suite of training. The training and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:
- National Occupational Standards (NOS) related to the safe moving of people and objects
- Good practice outlined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
The Moving/Manual and Handling Awareness Course will:
- Explain the principles and practice of safer handling of people and objects.
- Outline the reasons for safer manual handling.
- Enable learners to practise the principles of safer handling of people and objects when using equipment on their own and as part of a team.
Learners will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of the principles of manual handling of objects and people. The course will give them the opportunity to practise and apply these principles, so they can operate in a safer working environment when moving people and objects.
Course content
What’s covered?
The 2-3 hour course covers:
- Legislation relating to moving/manual handling
- Understanding employer responsibilities
- Understanding employee responsibilities
- Moving/manual handling risk assessments
- Anatomy of the spine
- Safe moving/manual handling techniques
- Types of equipment and testing requirements associated with moving people and objects
Who’s it for?
This training is ideal for people who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves moving people and/or objects.
It's suitable:
- As an introduction for people starting a job that involves moving people and/or objects.
- For those returning to work where moving people and/or objects is required.
- As safety refresher training.
Entry requirements
Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training.
Requalification
This certificate is valid for 3 years. The learner must retake the training before the certificate expiry date to remain up to date with manual handling knowledge.
