Safe Use of an Evacuation Chair Course
Course overview
This training is part of our Eden Custom Training Fire Safety suite of courses. The training and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of the:
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995
- Disability Equality Duty (DED) 2006
The Safe Use of an Evacuation Chair Course will:
- Give learners hands-on experience in preparing and operating their evacuation chair.
- Provide guidance on the safe evacuation of the mobility impaired.
Learners will develop their knowledge and skills for evacuating people and become confident to operate an evacuation chair in an emergency situation.
Course content
What’s covered?
The 2-hour course covers:
- Theory and specifications of an evacuation chair
- When an evacuation chair may be needed
- Preparing an evacuation chair for use
- Safely operating an evacuation chair
- A fire action plan incorporating an evacuation chair
Who’s it for?
This course is for all employees who have been assigned to help with the evacuation of people with impaired mobility.
Entry requirements
Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training.
Requalification
This certificate is valid for 3 years. The learner must retake the training before the certificate expiry date.
